Chili Ginger Chicken Wings Recipe

The time has finally come for football’s highest holiday: Super Bowl Sunday!

Whether you’re a die-hard pig-skin fan or just happen to know one, Super Bowl Sunday is a great time to gather your friends and family, center yourself squarely in front of the nearest TV, and get high while yelling about football.

But the question remains: What should you cook for your favorite stoners? Everybody has different tastes (and diets), so it can be a challenge to make a meal that everyone can enjoy.

Vegetarians, vegans and good-old-fashioned omnivores alike know that a party is only as popping as the food it provides. So how are you gonna keep the party lit, your friends happy and your homies well-fed?

Not to worry! Your favorite budtenders at Hashtag have you covered. They’ve been hard at work in the kitchen perfecting the ideal infused finger food for your party this Super Bowl Sunday: Chili Ginger Hot Wings!

Unlike most infused-edible recipes, this one could not be easier to prepare, so it’s perfect for expert canna-chefs and newbies alike!

By mixing in a special form of activated cannabis concentrate called CO2 oil (the same type of oil you’ll find in most cannabis oil vaporizing cartridges), you’ll be able to whip up a batch of tasty, infused finger foods faster than your hungry squad can say, “Touchdown!”

Our Chili Ginger Hot Wings recipe is provided below. And here are some budtender picks for what you’ll need to pick up from Hashtag to make your Super Bowl Sunday a tasty and stoney one!

1. CO2 oil by Pearl Extracts

Available in a wide variety of sativa, hybrid and indica strains, these 1g syringes are the perfect pick for festive occasions and late night shenanigans. Made with only 100% cannabis and cannabis derived terpenes, Pearl’s CO2 oil is a terrific choice for this recipe!

AC/DC Distillate Oil by Doctor & Crook

If the thought of straight THC oil in your wings seems over the top, we have an alternative: AC/DC Distillate by Doctor & Crook! This distillate oil (which is a refined form of CO2 oil) is high in CBD (with around 5 parts CBD to 1 part THC), is easy to use and is the ideal choice for first-timers. Although its effects can come on slowly, this distillate will leave you feeling calm, relaxed and ready for game day! Super secret budtender recommendation: pair this CBD edible with a beer. Get ready to feel floaty and happy!

Chili Ginger Chicken Wings Recipe

Servings: 6

3lbs chicken wings cut into bite-sized pieces (or 3 lbs cauliflower for vegetarians/vegans)

¾ cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp kosher salt

1 tbsp of freshly-ground black pepper

For Garnish

1 bunch cilantro, finely chopped

1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced

For the Sauce

0.5g of CO2 oil or CBD Distillate oil

2 jalapeno or serrano peppers, minced

5 garlic cloves, minced

2 inches of fresh ginger root, grated

1 cup rice vinegar

½ cup water

½ cup soy sauce

3 Tbsp dark sesame oil

½ cup dark brown sugar

2 Tbsp fish sauce (omit for vegan recipe)

1 tsp chili powder

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 475 ° F.

Step 2

Combine the flour, chili powder, salt and ground black pepper in a large mixing bowl. If using chicken, pat the wings dry with a paper towel. Add the chicken wings or cauliflower to mix in bowl. Toss until lightly coated, adding more flour if needed.

Step 3

Line a metal baking sheet with aluminum foil. For chicken: top the lined baking sheet with a wire rack. For cauliflower: lightly oil the lined baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, rotating the sheet halfway through baking.

Step 4

While baking the chicken or cauliflower, combine all sauce ingredients, including the 0.5g CO2 or 0.5g CBD Distillate concentrate, in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook the sauce until it has reduced to a syrupy consistency, about 20 minutes.

For chicken wings, remove from oven, and heat the broiler on high. Adjust oven rack to 6 inches below broiler. Brown 5-8 minutes until golden, flipping the wings halfway through broiling.

Step 5

Option 1: Add the wings or cauliflower to a large serving bowl, and coat with the sauce while it’s still warm. Pray that you don’t end up with too much THC on your plate, trapped on your couch for the longest high of your life.

Option 2: To make THC dosage more accurate, divide into 6 servings (of a half pound of wings or cauliflower per serving) in separate bowls, and coat each serving with 2 tablespoons sauce. If you made sauce using the Pearl Extracts CO2 oil, then each serving will contain approximately 60mg THC per serving. If you made sauce using the Doctor & Crook’s AC/DC Distillate oil then each serving will contain approximately 10mg THC and 55 mg CBD.

Step 6

Garnish with the green onions and cilantro. Eat up!

This recipe yields a lot of sauce--so you can repurpose the leftover sauce as a marinade, mix it into a stir-fry, or throw it on top any other savory dish for a stoney boost!
