Hashtag Cannabis expresses our solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community of Seattle and with #StopAsianHate. We strive to offer a safe space in our stores where all are welcome and all are loved, because we believe in our shared humanity.

We encourage donations to the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) and their Seattle chapter. NAPAWF is the only organization focused on building power with AAPI women and girls to influence critical decisions that affect their lives, families and communities. We also encourage donations to Massage Parlor Outreach Project, a local organization that supports massage parlor workers in Seattle’s Chinatown ID.

Our challenges to white folks:

  • Have you heard of the massage parlor shootings in Atlanta, GA on March 16, 2021? What are your thoughts? What are you doing in solidarity? How are you using your influence?

  • Who among your family and friends can you talk to about the shooting and about the rise of hate crimes against Asians?

Help with action plans can be found at Showing Up for Racial Justice’s (SURJ) list of actions that families can take from home, beyond social media activism.
